Intervention

SEA provides multiple programs that interrupt the dynamics of violence among individuals and in communities. Intervention workers, case managers, and mental health specialists provide crisis intervention, trauma care, family support, and long term case managed services to youth and families who have been affected by violence.

Los Angeles City Gang Reduction & Youth Develop CHOICE! Reintegration

SEA’s CHOICE! Reentry Program complements the reentry program SEA, Inc. also provides through funding from the Los Angeles County Probation Department under the auspices of Los Angeles County’s Regional Gang Violence Reduction Initiative in the Florence-Firestone community immediately adjacent to the Florence-Graham/77th GRYD Zone.

Los Angeles City Gang Reduction Youth Development Gang Intervention Services

The Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development was established in 2007 to provide a comprehensive, targeted approach to reducing gang crime and violence in Los Angeles. A signature feature of this approach has been to identify the areas of the City with the highest rates of gang violence and to provide intensive prevention and intervention services to the youth in these areas. The twelve core areas identified, known as Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) Zones had rates of gang-related crime that were at least 400 percent higher than elsewhere in the City. In addition to high levels of gang crime and activity, the GRYD Zones also have extremely high truancy and school drop-out rates, poverty levels, and unemployment. SEA, Inc. provides Community-Based Gang Intervention and Case Management Services along with wrap around services to youth between the ages of 14 to 25 in five of the twelve GRYD Zones:

SEA Inc. provides Gang Intervention Program (GIP) services for youth within Cluster 2 Area 2 and Cluster 4 of the Los Angeles County. Los Angeles County Probation Department Gang Violence Reduction Initiative (GVRI) "Second Chance"

SEA Inc., Provides intensive family-centered home based services to recently released probationary youth ages 14-18. Services are provided to the family 60-90 days before youth is released from camp. The family and youth are prepared for the integration of the youth returning home. Once youth return home, the family continues to receive services for a period of 6-8 weeks. Strategies of intervention include in-home family support services and social learning through a mentoring approach. All youth are referred by LA County Office of Probation by the Chief Executive office site supervisor. Post release services are provided for a period of 6-8 weeks. GVRI “Second Chance”

SEA Inc., provides Gender-Specific Services for probationary females ages 12 to 18 within the 2nd Supervisorial District who are on probation and/or are considered at-risk for delinquency, academic failure, or other serious personal problems. We provide:

Los Angeles County Probation Department High Risk/High Needs Home Based Services

SEA Inc., Provides intensive family-centered home-based services to probationary youth ages 14-18. Services are provided at the family's home for a period of 6-8 weeks. Strategies of intervention include in-home family support services and social learning through a mentoring approach. Our individualized in-home services to both the youth and his or her family are meant to avert an ongoing escalation of criminal and delinquent behavior and to promote school success. In addition, services are designed to:

  • Strengthen relationships within the family
  • Provides parent and youth support services
  • Promote responsible behavior
  • Decrease the amount of delinquency and recidivism among the youth in the family

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services

The purpose of SEA’s Mental Health programs recognizes human pathology and leads individuals to wholeness.

Comprehensive Plans Includes:

  • Case managers are available for all students, faculty, staff, and administration in order to: assess in developing a personal growth plan resources are available to support their growth.
  • Psychotherapists available at every SEA site to provide voluntary group support and therapy.
  • Psychologists available for referral and treatment of any SEA member who suffers from clinical or personality disorders.
  • Counselors to educate and refer co-occurring disorders and substances related struggles.
  • Trained counselors to assist in processing grief, loss and trauma
