SEA's Programs

06-Apr-2013

SEA's Programs are growing and establishing great strides across the LA County through one young person at a time!

Gender Specific Program: October 2012 25 Girls in the Gender specific program attended a Health and Wellness fair focused on Self-Defense, Social Media expectations of image and teen's perspectives on peer pressure. Girls from SEA Manchester, Fremont High School, Bret Heat and John Muir came together with mentors in a full day of empowerment and self-awareness. Can you say Girl Power!

GRYD Graduate: One of our very own Gang Reduction Youth Development clients, graduated from high school and successfully enrolled with the help of Case Manager Supervisor Veinogo Naufhau in Everest college to Pursue a career in the massage therapy.  Doesn't success look good on him!

Balling 4 Peace:  SEA's Gang Reduction Youth Development program is looking forward to our second annual balling 4 peace, clients from rival areas were brought together to play basketball  for the bragging rights of " GRYD's Greatest". All clients received basketball uniforms and new pair of Air Jordan's!  Who needs the Lakers  or the Clippers we have a all star team right here in SEA.

Dress To Impress: Gang Reduction Youth Development 77ll area brought together clients and properly prepared them for the work world through our Dress to Impress Workshop. Every participant received a complete interview appropriate attire and shoes! Can you say "so fresh, so clean, now hire me!"

Bon Appetite:  Gang Reduction Youth Development Newton area  literally sat at a table and learned the difference between drive through and fine dining. GRYD clients received a etiquette workshop and exercised what they learned at Maggiano's Italian Restaurant in the Groove. One client stated after  his experience " once you have had filet mignon you don't want hot dogs any more"!

Speed in Peace: Gang Reduction Youth Development North Hollenback GRYD Zone completed a never before task of bringing together the Walbash and Ramona Gardens communities  for a peace effort event at Speed Zone. Cars were racing, adrenaline was pumping, faces were smiling and history was in the making!  When it's a " passion not a profession it a peace of cake" Good Job North Hollenback.
