Hydroponics Celebration Luncheon

Hydroponics Celebration Luncheon

SEA East LA is proud to announce the introduction of its first hydroponics lab as part of the science class of teacher Sabina Glover.  Hydroponics is food that is grown by water in a closed pumping system.   The lab is currently growing seven types of lettuce which the YPM students maintain daily.  These students are responsible for keeping observation reports, checking the PH levels of the water for proper nutrients, and cleaning the system.

On Thursday, June 13, 2013, the East LA site celebrated its first harvest by inviting SEA staff to a catered salad luncheon.  Staff and guests were able to taste the delicious varieties of lettuce that were grown along with Ms. Glover's Southern Pecan Pie.  Among staff and guests present were Nathan Arias, President /CEO, Margaret Godinez, Superintendent, Victor Aguirre, Administration, and Co-Principals Jason Hasty and Felipe Vasquez, as well as a host of others.  A special thanks to Cinthya Vodanovich for making this celebration a success!
